We need prayers more than ever before, Buhari tells hajj pilgrims


President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday warned pilgrim officials to this year’s hajj against laxity and high-handedness on pilgrims, saying Nigeria needs prayers more than‎ ever before.

Speaking at the flag-off of the inaugural flight for this year’s hajj in Katsina, he said his administration had directed the National Hajj Commission and other relevant agencies to give pilgrims’ welfare a priority.

Buhari, who was represented Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari, implored the pilgrims to make the best out of the hajj experience and improve on your relationship with your creator and discharge your duties to your country as responsible citizens. Nigeria needs your prayers now more than ever before”.

The Saudi counsellor in Nigeria, Yusuf Al-Ghamdi, pleaded with pilgrims to obey laws and regulations of hajj exercise.

Chairman, NAHCON, Abdullahi Muktar, also appealed to pilgrims to comply with all the rules and regulations of the Saudi government especially on “things that have to do with crowd control, security, medical to make sure that all pilgrims that go for hajj all over the world perform their hajj with ease”.

The inaugural flight of about 526 pilgrims from the state was from Dutsinma, Kurfi and Mani Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
