Stanbic IBTC, CYCDI educate youths on Sustainable Development Goals

STANBIC IBTC Bank, in collaboration with the Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) and Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, is attracting young people to a better understanding of the United Nations (UN) goals in sustainable development (SDG) and their role in achieving them.

Partners to commemorate the 2018 Global People’s Summit organized a session at Covenant University, in which financial literacy became the main conclusion. The Global People’s Summit is organized by the Humanitarian Laboratories Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Office of Partnership Affairs. It provides a platform for people and organizations around the world, especially young people, to participate in the digital platform in a conversation so that changes can occur in society. It fosters collaboration; promotes innovation, builds a community, celebrates success, influences global agendas and finds new ways to translate the concept into action.

The creator of the Global People’s Summit, Hazimi Barmada, said: “We are strengthening communications from people around the world and talking and connecting points in the virtual space to make the world a better reality. Too often, talking about social impact occurs in exceptional places, so people who have the privilege and luxury of having access to passports and travel abilities can affect conversations. Talk about changing the world should not be limited to exclusivity.

In his welcoming address, Vice-Chancellor of the Covenus University, Professor Aaron Ataiero, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akan Williams, expressed admiration for the establishment of a partnership with reputable organizations to promote youth development, which is consistent with the main goal of the university to improve the new leader in Nigeria .

Stanbic IBTC Bank, the official partner of CYCDI InnoCreativa Youth Hub, gave a presentation on the theme “Financing creativity and innovation to achieve SDG”. Stanbic IBTC Bank, Head of the Personal Banking Department, Nkolik Okoli, said that the SDG target 3 and the focus of this year’s summit, “Ensuring a healthy life and increasing well-being for all people of all ages” is consistent with the status of the Stanbic IBTC group as an integrated provider of financial services solutions.
