Real Madrid: PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona: The position of those involved in the Neymar saga
Real Madrid Los Blancos have entered the battle
The Neymar saga has become a battle between three teams – Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona – and what is noticeable is that each side has their own position when it comes to the Brazilian forward.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with Neymar for much of the summer, but Real Madrid have now turned their attention towards the 27-year-old as they look to pair him with Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema.
PSG were surprised to discover that Real Madrid are interested in bringing Neymar to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. At this moment there has not been any contact between the two clubs, who have a good relationship.
What is clear is that PSG have made Neymar available this summer. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi effectively announced it during his interview with the France Football magazine, and then he admitted that Barcelona had contacted the club over the forward’s return. There hasn’t been much else since.
As PSG themselves have acknowledged, Madrid are yet to make an official move for Neymar. As we reported yesterday on MARCA, Los Blancos had been focused on bringing Paul Pogba to the club, Zinedine Zidane‘s No.1 target, but they realise that it will be impossible to lure the Manchester United midfielder away from Old Trafford due to the closure of the English transfer window. Therefore, they are now preparing a strategy to try and fulfil Florentino Perez‘s dream of seeing Neymar in Madrid‘s white shirt.
Madrid believe that the Brazilian would be the superstar signing that the team needs, and they are aware that PSG are willing to listen to offers for Neymar. Madrid know that the player wants to come, too.
Barcelona saw it coming. They believe that Real Madrid‘s interest has always been there, keeping an eye on what was going on between Barcelona and PSG, waiting for their moment to strike. Relations between the Catalans and Parisians is bad to say the least, which has always made Barcelona wary of other teams showing an interest in the Brazilian.
However, Barcelona have not thrown in the towel just yet. They expect Neymar to make a decision about who he wants to sign for, though: Barcelona or Real Madrid.
