Real Madrid They wouldn’t do anything differently
One year has passed since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Real Madrid chapter came to an end and in the 365 days since, both the club and player have missed each other, though neither will admit to it.
Juventus paid 117 million euros for the Portuguese and it was clear that Champions League success was their priority for the season. But it wasn’t to be, and they fell against Ajax in the quarter-finals.
They won Serie A together and Cristiano netted 28 times in all competitions, but he was only the fourth top scorer in Italy’s top tier, with his season ending with disappointment more than anything else due to the lofty expectations upon his arrival.
Results at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu show how he has been missed. Far from fighting for LaLiga Santander, Madrid went through the season under three different coaches, but they maintain that had they the chance to go back in time they’d do the same thing again and sell the No.7.
They don’t doubt his ability to make impact on the team, but they still believe they needed to make the change. The collapse in 2018/19 is put down to spirit more than anything else.
Other players, namely Marcelo and Luka Modric, have weakened since last summer, and their respective input has been missed.
Now, both Cristiano and Madrid want to get back to their triumphant ways, particularly in Europe.
