Real Madrid: Lunin in senior Ukraine squad 24 hours before Under-20 World Cup semi-final
Real Madrid Shevchenko brought him into the full team
Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has his hands full in the coming days, with an Under-20 World Cup semi-final coming 24 hours after being with the senior Ukraine team.
Andriy Shevchenko sparked controversy after calling up the youngster to the senior national team for their two 2020 European Championship qualifiers, only to leave him on the bench against Serbia.
His call-up meant that Lunin was unable to feature in the U20 side’s quarter-final match against Colombia, which Ukraine ended up winning 1-0.
On Monday, Lunin will be on the bench against Luxembourg for the senior side, before flying to Poland in order to feature in the U20 semi-final against Italy.
The flight between Kiev and Gdansk, the Polish city closest to the venue of the semi-final, is two hours, which means Lunin should have no problems in reaching the historic match in time.
