After meeting with Vice President Emi Osinbaggio, Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello confirmed that he did not plan to sell the Ayyokuta Precious Metallurgical Plant.

Bello spoke about the details of their discussion in the report. Country news,

“First of all, the vice-president, being the chairman of the National Economic Council, we came to ask him about the proposed sale of the Ajaokuty Steel Complex, and he pointed out that there is nothing like that.

“He said the federal government does not plan to sell the Ajaokuta Steel Company. The vice president said that Ajaokuta is an asset to the federal government and that they are studying how best to use this particular complex in the interests of Nigerians as a whole.

"In addition, we are going to crown the new Both Kabbah on Saturday, we have come to notify him as the father of the event that will come on Saturday and seek his blessings."
