NEPZA steps in to reconcile Samsung, LADOL

… sends LADOL to renew SHI-MCI operating license

The Nigerian Export Zones Authority, NEPZA, established a committee to investigate the alleged violation of Nigerian laws and the lack of respect shown to Nigeria’s government officials, SHI-MCI.

This step is aimed at resolving the conflict between the Shipping Logistics Base Lagos, LADOL and its local content partner Samsung Heavy Industries, SHI.

In addition, NEPZA sent LADOL to immediately update the license of the SHI-MCI Free Zone Enterprise operating system.

In a letter to the managing director of Free Zone Company for managing global resources, a subsidiary of LADOL and the leaders of the free zone LADOL, signed by the managing director of NEPZA, Emmanuel Jimé, NEPZA, said: “Please be informed that the committee composed by the body to investigate various the alleged violations allegedly committed by Samsung Heavy Industries and SHI-MCI FZE in the LADOL free trade zone covering a period of time. ”

It states: “In accordance with section (20) (a) of Part 5 of the 2004 Free Zone Regulation, which reads as follows:“ The authority of the authority / zone may designate one or more competent persons as inspectors to investigate any cases and report to the authority in such a form and during the time when it can be sent.

“Such an appointment can be made at the request of the owners or the enterprise of the free zone or body acting unilaterally or by any other person, provided that the body is satisfied that a good reason has been proven or circumstances have arisen that require an investigation.”

“In the light of the above provision, the committee was specifically tasked with reviewing the allegations in your letter of August 30, 2018, numbered 1-7, and presenting your findings within five days to take further necessary measures.

“Without prejudice to the final result of the committee’s conclusions, you hereby confirm the renewal of the valid SHI-MCI FZE license in the LADOL Free Trade Enterprise for the reporting period 2018/2019 in accordance with the delegated authority granted in accordance with S. (41) Provisions on the Free Zone LADOL 2016 . "

He added: “In connection with the above, you have kindly asked you to use unimpeded access to the free zones for your assigned commercial premises and facilities, as well as to provide the enterprise with all the privileges and guarantees provided for by the laws, rules and regulations of the free zone. The above directive is for your quick compliance. ”
