International Football – Premier League Irregularities took place in move
Radamel Falcao’s move from Monaco to Manchester United has been highlighted by Football Leaks over irregularities that included a payment of four million euros for a ‘ghost game’.
United looked to pay six million euros to Monaco plus a further four if they finished in a top four spot in the 2014/15 season but this was prevented by the French league who don’t allow performance related payments.
In the documents, published by Mediapart, the two clubs avoided the problem by signing two different agreements. Firstly a six million euro loan fee and then a further four and half million for a friendly match that was to be played in July, 2015, if United finished in the top four.
United would have to pay the four million whether the friendly took place or not, as long as they finished in the top four which is what happened.
