Barcelona: Vives: Barcelona will not fall into the trap of discussing Neymar
Barcelona Speculation over Brazilian’s future
Barcelona‘s spokesman for the board of directors, Josep Vives, says the club will not fall into the trap of discussing the possible return of Neymar to the Catalan club.
Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently stated that he is no longer going to put up with “superstar behaviour” at the club which has fueled transfer speculation over the Brazilian star.
However, Vives was keen to dampen any rumours of Neymar moving back to the Camp Nou two years after his controversial switch from Barcelona to PSG.
“It’s something we’re not going to get into,” Vives responded.
“Now he is a PSG player and we do not have to talk.
“We will not say anything because it will fall into a trap,” he added during an event celebrating the 40 years of La Masia.
Further questions were aimed at Vives about the potential signing of Antoine Griezmann after Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin claimed that the Frenchman was off to Barcelona.
“We are aware of Gil Marin‘s comments.
“We will only talk about those [transfers] that we have completed.
“We are not going to retransmit what we do or don’t do,” he said.
Vives continued along the same line when asked about a possible swap deal with Valencia which would see Barcelona‘s Jasper Cillessen move to Los Che in exchange for Brazilian keeper Neto.
“We will not talk about future operations or operations that are in progress, we want to tell things in a timely manner,” Vives affirmed.
