Troops of Division I, the headquarters of the Nigerian army, Operation Kaduna under Operation Whirlwind, killed six suspected kidnappers who terrorized the total area of Birnina Gwari and the road of Kaduna Abuja.
They also killed four bandits in Kidane Issa, Guidan Harun Mobal and Kuduru.
In a statement by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs of the Army of the 1st Division, Colonel Muhammad Share, published on Thursday, it is said that the troops, in conjunction with local vigilance groups, identified evacuation routes used by bandits and abductors along the general territory of Kurigi and Gayama, and Maganda, Chiki de Parlor and Farin Ruwa, all of them are located in Chikun LGA in Kaduna state and lured many into an ambush.
According to the statement, "troops on Operation Whirl Punch under 1st Division of the Nigerian Army are steadily making significant progress in their efforts to rid the society of bandits and kidnappers in the general area of Birnina Gwari and along the road Kaduna-Abuja.
"During recent demining operations and routine patrols, they raided the suspected kidnappers of kidnappers in Kidandan along the Dohonov Dava, Uguan Beil, Diwan and Unguvan Nakuli roads on Monday, September 10, 2018. During the meeting with the bandits, six suspected kidnappers were neutralized.
"Similarly, in conjunction with local vigilance groups, some identified evacuation routes used by bandits and abductors along the common territory of Kurigi and Gayama, as well as Maganda, Chiki de Parlor and Farin Ruva, all in the Chikun LGA in Kaduna were blocked, and many of them were ambushed.
Likewise, another huge success was recorded when the troops cleared Kidan Isa, Gidan Harun Mobal and Kudur, where four gangsters were neutralized, and some escaped gun shots. The following items were restored: the AK-47 gun store, 16 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, one Dane Gun, a local pistol, 2 mobile phones and arrested one kidnapper named Musa, who recently kidnapped Alhaji Ahmadu and two other persons from Cano. "
He said that the suspects are being interrogated.
He explained that the demining operation continued along the area of Gwaska Dock, where the troops encountered bandits fleeing the forests of Dogon Dawa and Kamuku, adding: "During the chase, the bandits abandoned four motorcycles and some valuable items that were subsequently restored."
He noted that Whirl Punch operation will continue to exert tremendous pressure on criminals sleeping in suspected shelters, until they are completely cleared or leave the territory.
He urged the general public to continue to provide reliable and timely information for the continued success of the operation.
