14th edition Africa Film Academy Awards held in Rwanda, making it a second time outside of Nigeria.
Predictably, it was a day to mark African films with generally accepted themes and brains behind the films.
Of the nominations that are evenly distributed throughout Africa, the red carpet was filled with Africans from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Algeria and even Barbados. Award ceremony which organizers preaching more collaboration among the Africans, there were talented filmmakers from all over Africa.

At the beginning of the awards ceremony the South African film,Winnie won The AMAA 2018 Award for Best Documentary, hence setting the pace for South Africa as the biggest winner of the night.
The film received awards for categories that include Ousmane Sembene AMAA 2018 Award for Best Film in African Language; Prize AMAA 2018 for achievements in the field of production design; AMAA Award 2018 for the best first feature film director; Award AMAA 2018 for achievements in cinematography and Award AMAA 2018 for the best film.
It is interesting to note that the awards for the best actor in the lead role and the best actress in the lead role won Richard Mofe Damijo and Dacor Egbuson but both participants were absent at the event.
The AMAA 2018 celebrated the best films from Africa, as well as talented practitioners in the film industry. Best film of the year "Five Fingers for Marcel", rightly deserves an award that enjoyed great reviews and screenings at major film festivals around the world.
This year, Nigerians brought their A-game. The big winners of the evening were Richard Mofe Damijo, Dakor Egbuson, Joke Silva and Gideon Okeke, who finally won his first amaa. He took home The best actor in the role of support.
In one area organizers amaa need to work on the eve of the next issue of the awards ceremony behind the scenes.
